Have you ever been unable to change the start date of a task in Microsoft Project?
You type in 11/2 for the start date and it changes back to 11/19.
If you have applied actual work to some tasks and then go back and change the predecessors/successors, or re-level, some interesting things can happen. This is an old question and I do not have Project 2010 with me now as we have started using Project 2013. I am marking your answer as accepted as it looks like that should have been the issue.
